In Chapter 22 of the Book of Proverbs we see right from the start what makes up a good name... a good person, a prudent person, and a humble person. The rewards for that coupled with the fear of the Lord are "riches, and honor, and life". (verse 4)
Verse two tells us that "the rich and the poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all". The contrast is made and is understood by both parties. The difference is how each relates to the other. Verse 9 shows how the one who recognizes the need and is generous with what they have shall be blessed.
Verse 11 has a "king" reference that we can apply to the "King of Kings" because of the positive attitude of the proverb. Rich and Poor alike can seek and pursue "pureness of heart". "For the grace of his lips" is good will in thoughts and deeds. The reward: "the king shall be his friend". Do you want to be a friend of the King? Choose a good name. It comes with all you do, say, and think and has everlasting rewards!
