The last eleven verses in Chapter 6 continue the warning (from chapter 5) against immorality, specifically adultry. And this will continue in Chapter 7 too. The writer points out in verse 32 that the adulterer lacks 'understanding' (one of our goals for seeking wisdom). One of my favorite portions of this chapter is verses 16 through 19 where it lists 7 things that the Lord hates. We need to know these things...
1. A proud look
Can you think of an example for each of them? I find it interesting that 3 of the 7 have to do with what we say! The proverb starts out in verse 2 with the statement, "thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth". It is important what we say, when and how we say it, and what our motives are for saying it! If God hates these things then wisdom is telling us that we should too!
